The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the battle between faith and wealth, it's a knockout win for materialism in this director's wonderfully garish biopic of the disgraced TV preacher plus her lawbreaking partner. Andrew Garfield acts as the greedy Jim, who proclaims at the beginning, “God does not want us to be poor,”. The couple commence monetising the people's Christian beliefs. It's a spectacle of tacky decor, overdone appearance and insincerity, however the lead actress achieves to depict the real-life figure as a sympathetic figure. Next Tuesday, 1.15am, the Film4 channel
