19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial championship for over two years with success over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a challenging year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the American major.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now working with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is his first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from that period of 2023.

Success also means he has won twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a championship is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had led some to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his first ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a final set.

He saved four initial chances in a tight deciding set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
