Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement State

Police stated they were contacted by a man who found a car in Hanau covered with reddish liquid

Around fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a official communication.

Police state they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish substance.

The substance had been applied in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Police report initial examinations indicate the substance was probably blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are currently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the community for details.

An important political figure commented the vandalism left him without words and had to be solved promptly.

"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he posted on social media, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in five years prior.
